What are idioms?
An idiom is a phrase or expression that typically presents a non-literal meaning attached to the phrase.
Here are three idioms that I know
1. “Apple of my eye”. It refers to someone they love or cherish more than others. Here is a sentence with the idiom! “My pet fish, Goldie, is the apple of my eye” In this sentence, the person loves his pet fish, Goldie more than others
2. “Break a leg”. This idiom is not actually used to tell someone to break their leg! However, it is actually used when you would like to tell someone to do their best
in something. For example, “Robin’s mother told him to break a leg before leaving for the competition.”
3. “Hit the hay” It means that someone is tired and wants to go to sleep. “It is getting pretty late. I guess I have to hit the hay now!”
